What is Krav Maga?

A practical self-defence system built for real-world situations, not the ring.

Developed by Imi Lichtenfeld and refined for the Israel Defense Forces, Krav Maga blends striking, wrestling and grappling so you can recognise a threat early, deal with it, and get to safety.

It was created for people of all ages, sizes and capabilities. You don’t need to be fit or have any martial arts background to start. Close Combat is part of the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF), a worldwide community with headquarters in Israel.

What you’ll train

Skills that hold up when it’s real.

Striking

Punches, kicks, elbows and knees, thrown with correct technique and real power.

Grabs & chokes

Getting free from grabs, chokes and headlocks, from the front, the side and behind.

On the ground

Defending yourself when you’ve been taken down, and getting back to your feet.

Weapon threats

Dealing with threats from a knife, a stick or a gun, and getting away safely.

Awareness

Spotting trouble early, avoiding it, and calming things down where you can.

Under pressure

Drills that lift your heart rate, so your technique still works when you’re tired and stressed.
